Manager, GPU Functional/Stress Test Development

THE ROLE:

We are seeking a highly technical and innovative Manager to lead our GPU Functional/Stress Test Development team. You will be responsible for guiding a team of skilled engineers in architecting and developing low-level stress (Exercisers) and functional test applications for cutting-edge data center GPUs. This role demands a strong technical leader who can drive innovation in post-silicon test methodologies, collaborate effectively across hardware and software teams, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality validation solutions.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate is a very technically competent individual with a proven track record of rapidly learning new technologies and driving innovation. You possess strong experience in post-silicon test development, particularly in the GPU domain, and are adept at leading technical teams. Your background demonstrates a deep understanding of both GPU architecture and systems programming, enabling you to effectively contribute to the development of robust test strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive Innovation: Be a thought leader in the field of silicon stress testing, continuously exploring and implementing new ideas and innovative approaches, particularly in the post-silicon phase.
  • Deliver Critical Test Content: Oversee the development and delivery of key test content for post-silicon validation teams, manufacturing, and external customers.
  • Lead and Mentor: Manage, mentor, and empower a team of highly skilled test content development engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
  • Develop Test Strategy: Work with Tech lead(s) to implement and lead the testing strategy and planning (integration, functional, stress, performance), designing and documenting comprehensive test plans and procedures, with a strong focus on post-silicon validation.
  • Manage Projects: Effectively manage multiple projects, including timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring efficient execution and timely delivery of high-quality test solutions.
  • Improve Test Processes: Continuously evaluate and improve test content development processes and methodologies, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, effectiveness, and automation, especially in the context of post-silicon testing.
  • Collaborate Cross-functionally: Work closely with HW/SW Architects, HW design, emulation, driver, firmware, Software, validation/debug teams, and Program Management to ensure project objectives are met and that test strategies align with post-silicon requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Establish effective strategies and methodologies to troubleshoot test failures, analyze root causes, and assist users in resolving issues in a pre and post-silicon environment.
  • Support Recruitment and Development: Participate in recruitment activities, including interviewing and hiring, and support the training, career development, and performance management of team members.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven years of experience in GPU architecture, low-level programming, and Linux systems development.
  • Experience in managing or leading technical teams.
  • Strong experience in post-silicon GPU stress and functional test development.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new technologies and apply them effectively.
  • Proven track record of driving innovation in technical domains.
  • Strong expertise in GPU compute programming (CUDA/HIP/OpenCL/SP3 assembly).
  • Deep understanding of parallel programming, memory consistency models, and concurrency.
  • Experience with Linux kernel development, device drivers, and user space programming.
  • Proficiency in modern C++ (14+) and Python, with experience in low-level/firmware programming as a plus.
  • Proven ability to debug complex hardware/software interactions, particularly in post-silicon scenarios.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
