  • Portneuf Medical Center is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's tertiary care and Level II Trauma Center, housing the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group, and Portneuf Air Rescue.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the functions of cleaning, decontamination, preparation and processing for re-sterilization and delivery of all instrumentation and reusable supplies, implants, and equipment to all departments, clinics, and physician offices.
  • Manages instrument inventory and maintains instrument location and storage
  • Oversees the duties of sterile processing techs and schedules staffing to OR case volume
  • Manages staffing within productivity levels to ensure the departments meets the sterilization requirements of the hospital
  • Participates in new hire interviews and orientation. Assists new hires to reach competency through goal setting and education.
  • Responsible for staff education by setting departmental goals for process improvement.
  • Provides supervision on various shifts when required.
  • Manages personnel problems as they arise by overseeing and managing the sterile processing department.
  • Maintains AORN & ANSI/AAMI standards within the department through policies and procedures.
  • Maintains all data collection required for all sterilizers in an accurate manner.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)
  • Must have at least two years of related Sterile Processing and/or Operating Room experience.
  • Knowledge of surgical supplies, prostheses, instruments, and equipment.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Successfully completed a central service management certification.
