Core Team Engineer - Frontal Airbag / Inflator Specialist

The Core Team Engineer (CTE) for Airbag modules will have dual responsibilities. The selected candidate will be part of the core airbag technology team and serve as the regional expert and global consultant for current and future inflator technology. The selected candidate will work with airbag and inflator suppliers to approve new inflator technology for use in Stellantis vehicles. The CTE will serve as the core specialist and single point of contact for inflator technology. In addition, the candidate will perform up front feasibility assessments with Advanced Engineering and Product Design Office for airbag applications on new Stellantis vehicles. The individual will develop and maintain global performance specifications, design practices, lessons learned, DFMEA and DVP&R for airbags and inflators. The roles and responsibilities also include but are not limited to leading supplier technical reviews, leading management reviews, and collaborating with other industry colleagues on inflator technology.

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
  • 10 years of experience in airbag engineering design and development
  • At least 5 years' experience in inflator design, development, and validation.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work autonomously, excellent communication skills, positive attitude, and willingness to learn and coach, and attention to details.
  • Knowledge of inflator industry practices and technology
  • Proven ability to lead and resolve complex system issues.
  • Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Reactive Problem-Solving Tools.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • 10 years of experience in inflator design
  • Strong technical knowledge on inflator construction and propellant technology
  • Demonstrated experience with inflator manufacturing.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to lead and direct a cross-functional engineering team.
  • Program management experience.
