The Team:

The Mattel Franchise Creative International Regions team provides creative partnership for business partners through pitches, style guides, and creative direction that extends our iconic Mattel brands around the world.

The Opportunity:

The Creative Director connects across brands and regions to drive best in class-creative execution with partners, alignment to Global Creative, and support and mentor the Regional Franchise Creative teams. The Creative Director immersed in future trends, current state of the business, and the future of the Mattel's brands. This role collaborates works closely with line of business partners and partner with the other Franchise Creative Directors to ensure the development and execution of global, relevant and brand-right creative strategies with all regional partners. This role must collaborate with external partners and be a wealth of creativity and storytelling pitches while understanding our different brands and company strategies. This is a fast-paced, visible role that needs an extremely high level of creativity and taste, excellent prioritization, organizational and collaboration/communication skills, and is for someone who can mentor and provide value to a talented international team.

What Your Impact Will Be:

Creative Director is responsible for the below at a high level

  • Up to date on current, emerging trends, international brands and able to curate/apply to multiple brands
  • Global pitch development: including partnering on the "why" not just the "what"
  • Provide creative strategic direction and support to priority global licensees/programs
  • Ensure timely approvals
  • Support Halo programs/collaborations with design direction and identification of partners/pitches
  • Partner with cross functional creative teams to ensure needs of the regions/LOB are met
  • A high-level connection and collaboration point across the globe and within the Creative team: partner to the other Directors
  • Do-ing as well as direct-ing
  • Leading, mentoring and developing their team: always pushing for creative improvement

What We're Looking For:

Requirements:

  • 10-12 years professional experience (AL level), including 4+ as a manager
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and superior problem solving
  • Partnership/collab, licensing, diverse product including fashion design experience
  • Skilled in Graphic Design, pitch creation and presentation
  • Advanced skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and Power point (InDesign is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of colors, materials and finishes
  • Able to Draw and sketch as well as verbally communicate ideas
  • Knowledge of hard and softlines manufacturing processes
  • Experience in spatial, experiential design, publishing, gaming appreciated
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent presentation skills required
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Excellent Collaborator and partner
  • Ability to delegate, coach and develop a creative team
  • Strong and impactful team leader
  • Fluency in English and 1+ other language is important for this role!

The annual base salary range for this position is between $150,000 and $215,000.

**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skills and experience.Mattel offers competitive total pay programs, comprehensive benefits, and resources to help empower a culture where every employee can reach their full potential.
