INTRO TO POSITION

How I Built This is an interview-based podcast about innovators, entrepreneurs, leaders, and problem-solvers sharing the powerful stories of how they built some of the world's best-known brands. The How I Built This podcast is produced by NPR and distributed by Wondery, an Amazon-owned podcast publisher. The radio show is distributed by NPR to hundreds of public radio stations across the country.

NPR's How I Built This is looking for a temporary Producer I to join our highly collaborative and creative team.

Our team produces three programs each week: (1) an hour(+) long podcast, featuring an extended interview with host Guy Raz and a prominent entrepreneur (2) a 45-minute long Advice Line podcast, featuring Guy and a former guest, giving business advice to start-up founders (3) an hour-long radio show: a hybrid of Planet Money and HIBT.

From week to week, this producer will rotate through the above assignments, which will include intensive audio production, research, and background interviews of potential guests. A producer at the P1 level may be expected to occasionally fill in as a backup editor, working with team members on shaping and structuring their episodes.

The ideal job candidate is already very familiar with How I Built This, has extensive experience working in long-form audio, and the ability to work confidently and efficiently with minimal supervision.

An academic background in business is not required, but a passion for business-and specifically, entrepreneurship-is expected.
