This is a grant-funded position. Funding for this position is contingent upon the terms of the grant. This position is funded through September 30, 2029. This is a 52 week position, year-round.
Under the leadership of the Director, Biohealth Career Pathways, the Navigator, Biohealth Tech Hub provides holistic support and services to guide MATC students in achieving success by creating a career plan that leads the student to graduation and establishes a goal for employment. Collaborates with Biohealth Tech Hub partners, employers, and MATC colleagues to provide support to biohealth students during their enrollment at the institution. Connects students to resources to help resolve barriers to successful program completion. Administers career assessments, facilitates individual and group biohealth career advising sessions, and counsels students on essential functions and technical standards for various biohealth careers. Provides intensive career guidance, helping the student to develop an action plan for being career ready upon graduation.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

- Advise students on opportunities to gain experience through student activities, community service, student employment, research projects, cooperative education, internships, and other opportunities.
- Advise students through review and discussion of academic records, portfolios, or CPLE transfer credit.
- Research, develop, and deliver presentations requested for classes and student organizations covering various career topics.
- Participate in Student Success courses, new student orientations and classroom presentations.
- Obtain educational and occupational information for students to support student career and educational planning; develop their understanding of the world of work.
- Assist in developing and ensuring compliance with policy and procedures manual for career services and assessments.
- Assist in developing a comprehensive plan to assist students in selecting personalized academic programs and experiential opportunities that optimize future educational and employment options.
- Interpret various career assessments and counsel students by providing guidance to take initiative to develop career decisions, review transfer/professional school plans, employment plan options, and job-search competencies.
- Assist students with job searches consistent with degree program; support job-search skill development, effective candidate interviewing and presentation skills, and the understanding of the fit between their competencies in contrast with occupational and job requirements; provide encouragement, career mentoring and job counseling.
- Provide ongoing Career Advising to students to develop a full range of career and work possibilities that match student's career goals and workplace/transfer fit.
- Provide career advising and pre-admission advising to students through scheduled appointments and drop-ins with individuals, online/distance resources, group programs, career planning courses, outreach opportunities, special events, information technology, and other available resources in careers and employment.
- Support job and internship resources including directories, databases and web resources.
- Advertise and assist in the creation and presentation of workshops on job requirements, internship opportunities, work-study, transfer credit, etc.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
-
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Educational Requirement: A Bachelor's Degree in a field related to Biology or Health; Master's Degree Preferred. Occupational Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional-level occupational experience; five (5) years relevant professional-level occupational experience and/or biohealth occupational experience preferred. Required Licensure/Certification: None

- Career Coaching: Proven ability to effectively provide coaching on career counseling topics including: career exploration and decision-making; interest, skill, and work values; identification/development; internship, job, graduate/professional, post-graduate service search; resume/curriculum vitae, a cover letter, personal statement writing; and interviews.
- Student-Centeredness: Proven ability to effectively use helping skills in individual career counseling appointments and a focus on student success.
- Resource Referrals: Proven ability to provide information regarding support services, pre-enrollment programs, on-going learning assistance, and technology support related to helping students complete the appropriate training for biohealth careers.
- Research and Analytical Skills: Ability to organize, analyze and interpret statistical and management data.

Start Date: This position supports the STEM Pathway and is available to start immediately. Hours & Location: Up to 40 hours per week, in-person, across multiple campuses. Work is conducted during scheduled course hours, Monday - Friday. Hours vary based on departmental needs. Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited. Salary: Salary is determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity. Salary determination will be only based on years of credited experience that is listed on the job application, please include complete work history. This is a grant-funded position. Funding for this position is contingent upon the terms of the grant. This position is funded through September 30, 2029. Interviews: Selected qualified candidates will be invited to virtually interview for this position on a date to be determined.
