The Department of Communication and Journalism is seeking to hire a coordinator that will serve in many different capacities: Graduate Advisor, Scheduler, Internship Coordinator and Ambassador Coordinator.

This position will work closely with the Department Administrator and the Graduate Directors to provide guidance on day-to-day programmatic tasks related to graduate student success. These tasks include but are not limited to assisting faculty and graduate students with the implementation of policies and procedures supporting graduate student processes.

This position will coordinate the recruitment, intake, and provision of administrative services for the departmental Graduate Program and will provides associated support services to faculty and staff.

Scheduler- serve as the lead for department scheduler. This position leads and works closely with the Department Chair and DA in entering courses in the department scheduler and is familiar with Department Enrollment Status Report (DESR) on a semester-by-semester basis and working with the College to follow budget guidelines.

Internship Coordinator- responsible for all components associated with internships. Will ensure proper documentation is properly filled out, will ensure students applying for Internships meet minimum requirements. Will establish and maintain Internship relationships with firms in the greater Albuquerque community. Will directly work with faculty mentors to make sure students are successfully meeting requirements.

Ambassador Coordinator- serve as the liaison between C&J student Ambassadors and the greater Albuquerque High School community to schedule and coordinate presentations as a means of outreach and recruitment for future prospective C&J students.

Will serve as back up for the fiscal administration for the department, including but not limited to budgets, funding contracts and grants, payroll and purchasing, and reimbursements. Coordinate and serve as backup with all fiscal planning. Will serve as time entry for the department.

This position requires excellent communication and problem-solving skill and the ability to collaborate as a member of a team while serving a wide range of internal and external constituents.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Strong ability to multi-task and manage completing priorities while meeting deadlines;
  • Ability to plan, organize and facilitate special events;
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems independently;
  • Experience and familiarity with graduate student policies and procedures;
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision;
  • Experience in higher education working with faculty and students as well as members of the general public;
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
