Payroll Analyst

Position Description:
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and supporting payroll reporting and analysis. This role involves auditing union payroll data, resolving discrepancies, and working closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll operations run smoothly.

Core Responsibilities:



  • Process and review payroll transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Audit payroll data, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and direct deposits, to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and company policies.
  • Prepare weekly & monthly union conciliation benefits deductions.
  • Work with Payroll Manager to reconcile union payroll-related accounts and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Support audits by providing necessary payroll documentation and reports.
  • Stay up to date with payroll regulations and best practices to improve payroll processes.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll processing, payroll analysis, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and timekeeping software.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with employees at all levels.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
