Responsible for completing product quality checks. Conducts routine and non-routine testing and analysis of production work. Quality checks may be reviewed for accuracy. Documents quality control issues as needed. Typically has 3-5 years of experience and works under broad supervision.

Under the direction of the Quality Control Manager, this position is accountable for performing objectively a variety of Q.C. and technical-related tasks, including test, inspection, calibration, analysis of test/inspection data, training, and record keeping. Assist others, as directed or required.

Essential Duties:

  • Qualification testing of incoming materials, as well as wire and cable, following industry/internal procedures.
  • Set up test procedures and perform a wide variety of quality control inspections/tests involving specialized knowledge of test equipment and of effects of process variables on a product, particularly in terms of usage of materials.
  • Assist in entering NCRs using the QCBD database. This will also include determining the proper disposition to close NCRs promptly.
  • Record and maintain accurate data of all testing performance following documented procedures.
  • Numerous contacts with all levels of management, including factory supervisors, machine operators, development engineers, process engineers, and technicians. Tact is required in building and maintaining relationships. Occasional contacts with outside technical representatives and customer source inspectors.
  • Assist Q.C. Manager in instructing and training hourly employees in measurements and responsibilities; keeping records and interpreting data and results; carrying out special assignments by the Q.C. Manager.
  • Assist the Quality Specialist in performing calibrations and maintain the past due list to less than 5 instances per month.

Knowledge & Experience Required:

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field coupled with 1-3 years experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Knowledge of wire and cable manufacturing processes/operations and inspections/tests. Capable of reading and interpreting wire and cable specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as calibration experience are preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including the ability to interact with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Team player- will need to collaborate with other members of the organization and assist as required when necessary.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision is essential; as a specific problem arises, consultation with immediate supervisor or other appropriate personnel is expected.
  • Must be confidential and discreet. May work with confidential or proprietary information on processing or constructions, disclosure of which could be contrary to Company interests.
  • Factory environment - exposure to noise, fumes, dust from chemical compounds, high temperatures, and machinery.
