Overview
The Department of Motor Vehicles is hiring a Motor Vehicle Operations Specialist. This is a key role focused on staff development and professional training. This position plays an important part in identifying training needs, developing programs, and coordinating learning opportunities across multiple DMV units. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a solid understanding of adult learning principles, and a practical, innovative approach to training. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively and is motivated to support others' growth on the job. This is not a remote position. It's temporarily based at Barre City Place with frequent work at the Montpelier DMV office. Occasional travel to other DMV locations is required. The hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 4:30 pm with occasional overtime. Who May Apply

Incumbents must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure before the public eye and from telephone inquiries. The incumbent must also be able to change job duties or switch work offices with minimal notification depending on the work load of the department. Employees must be able to deal with confused, frustrated, and highly upset customers and handle large sums of money. Normal office conditions prevail with occasional trips outdoors to verify vehicle identification numbers. Private means of transportation may be required. Some overtime work may be required. Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of office clerical experience, that included: significant public contact; the understanding of, and the ability to explain, policies/procedures or rules/regulations; and regular use of computer programs. OR One (1) year prior experience with the motor vehicle department. Total Compensation
