Position Summary:

The position is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing assigned sales and management of MBA's trade show activities and plays a key role in the areas of exhibit sales and management. Under project supervision, position collaborates with sales team and organizes and implements sales strategies and marketing communications assigned MBA exhibit and sponsorship programs. Position also maintains working relationships with Association staff, vendors, contractors, and venue personnel to recommend and execute plans related to MBA's trade show activities. Position is an individual contributor role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, a position incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Oversees, promotes, sells, assigns, and acknowledges exhibit booth space for the Association's annual trade shows and sponsorship/tabletop top exhibit sales for designated conferences. Manages communication with current and potential exhibitors and sponsors, providing pricing and logistical information.
  • Manages and maximizes utilization of exhibit hall layout. Assigns exhibit space to exhibitors. Develops and provides outline of exhibit hall set-up including special requirements.
  • Serves as a liaison to vendors, supplier contracts, and hotel personnel. Arranges all security services for annual trade shows with general service contractor.
  • Works collaboratively with the marketing department related to the design and development of promotional materials and programs. Provides production specifications, deadlines, and ensures accuracy and timely delivery of materials.
  • Assists in gathering proposals and making recommendations for general service contractors, security, and other tradeshow-only suppliers.
  • Travels and assists team in all on-site logistics, including exhibit hall set-up and show.

Qualifications:

Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of three-five years of prior relevant combined exhibit manager/coordinator and sales work experience. Knowledge of the meeting planning industry and the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) rules and regulations of tradeshow management with a clear understanding of exhibit hall management.

  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interact and communicate with diverse individuals.
  • Requires exceptional customer service and team orientation skills.
  • Requires exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires proficiency with MS Office Suite, Expocad, Aptify, and web publishing and database software is preferred.
