ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - Strategy & Planning

Reform Management Group

Office of Constitutional Policing and Reform

Chicago Police Department

Number of Positions: 1 (additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)

Starting Salary: $129,936 annually

Under direction, develops and manages implementation plans and strategies to achieve compliance with consent decree requirements and the strategic vision for the Chicago Police Department; and performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

* Supervises team of civilian project managers to create and track implementation plans for various reform projects under the consent decree and strategic plan

* Reviews and approves project documentation created by project managers, ensuring all documents adhere to professional standards of the office

* Prepares materials and agenda for weekly project management meetings, including owning the master project plan for all project progress reports

* Responsible for documenting and tracking all consent decree requirements

* Maintains office standard operating procedures and ensures team is following procedures accordingly

* Advises project managers on solving strategic barriers to progress on reform and strategy projects

* Serves as Director's designee in various meetings and committees

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a field related to the duties performed, including five (5) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the interview will be selected.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:



  • Previous law enforcement experience
  • A master's degree or JD from and accredited law school.


NOTE: Candidates must pass a background investigation, drug screen and other pre-employment procedures as determined by the Chicago Police Department.

The Department of Human Resource staff will review applications after the final posting date. Staff will follow any and all required Employment/Hiring Plan provisions, federal, state and local laws, and Collective Bargaining Agreements when applicable.
