That's why we're looking for a Litigation Docketing Analyst to provide comprehensive litigation calendaring services to all assigned regional offices and the firm in general, including overseeing calendaring processes and quality assurance for all matters handled by attorneys, adhering to calendaring procedures and processes for these matters and facilitating firm compliance with calendaring policies and protocols to minimize the risk of missed deadlines.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for...



  • Independently calendaring firm litigation, bankruptcy and agency matters and all related deadlines and scheduled events
  • Mentoring and training team members while performing quality assurance and quality checks on work completed
  • Assisting manager in administering any department databases or applications, as needed; assisting manager in conducting ongoing effective firm training programs and presentations on docketing systems, policies and protocols
  • Assisting in conducting orientations for all newly hired attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrative assistants for all offices assigned
  • Providing recommendations to manager to continually improve firm's docketing and calendaring best practices, procedures, and workflow processes; assisting manager with creating, updating, and maintaining department materials, as needed
  • Following and complying with all calendaring procedures, best practices and department processes for all matters calendared and worked on
  • Responding to requests from attorneys, legal administrative assistants, and paralegals regarding calendared events and deadlines, court procedures, rules and filing processes
  • Conducting research to determine the proper court procedures that are necessary to follow and apply; advise attorneys and staff of the same
  • Occasional trips to court to file, retrieve, and deliver documents; coordinating with vendors and couriers to arrange for documents to be served on certain entities
  • Creating, reviewing, and distributing calendar and case update reports; compiling and preparing analysis of data for miscellaneous requests and reports, as needed


The successful candidate will demonstrate...



  • A bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate or experience/education equivalent required
  • A minimum of three years of progressive experience working in a Managing Clerk or Managing Attorney Department, and/or Litigation Docketing Department (experience should include substantial knowledge of litigation processes, court rules, and procedures and considerable experience computing deadlines specifically for California state, California federal and appellate courts and in state and federal agencies across the country)
  • Experience with rules based calendaring software preferred
  • Ability to research, analyze, and summarize issues in writing
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, while drawing valid conclusions and making sound judgment
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently in a high volume, fast-paced environment, and sort priorities with minimum level of supervision while still meeting deadlines and business objectives
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and handle sensitive issues and situations with the highest confidentiality
  • Proficient skills/knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and Excel as well as Adobe PDF Creator (or equivalent); experience with MS Access or similar DB software
  • Ability to work overtime, when required


Pay Range for Candidates in Los Angeles, CA:

$90,000 - $115,000 per year

The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location.
