Responsibilities

The Manager of Health Information Services supervises the HIMS staff, assuring that medical records and related health information are collected, analyzed, and maintained. Under the general supervision of the CFO, COO and CEO, establishes and maintains adequate health information systems in compliance with all applicable laws, standards and policies. These systems include forms control, chart audits, record security, and release of information, transcription and filing. Participates in delivering HIM/ HIPAA information at General Hospital Orientation and Department / Job Orientation, including competencies for this position.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited college program with a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Record Information or related field.

Experience:

Three (3) years experience in Medical Records/Health Information Management including at least one (1) year in a community mental health and/or acute psychiatric facilities preferred At least (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.

License/Certification:

Required registered Record Administrator by the American Health Information Management Information Association.

Skills:

Ability to pay attention to detail, develop and maintain effective efficient systems. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Physical Requirements:

Work is of medium demand requiring extensive sitting, standing, bending, lifting and walking. Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and occasionally exert up to 50 lbs. of force.

Other:

Performs others duties as may be assigned by CFO, COO or CEO.
