The Morton Arboretum is a world-renowned nonprofit dedicated to the study, growth, and preservation of trees. The Plant Clinic is a free service provided by the Arboretum that synthesizes and shares the latest science-backed plant care best practices with gardeners and green professionals. The Plant Clinic directly answers questions for clients, provides web content on plants and plant care, and publishes the Plant Health Care report on the latest pest and disease issues in the northern Illinois area.We are seeking an individual who can join our team to create specific content for the Plant Clinic portion of the website. This individual will need to be able to gather research from various sources and integrate it into written documents clearly and concisely. We are looking for an individual who is well-organized and self-motivated to help complete this project.

Position Summary: Write and update tree and plant pages for The Morton Arboretum's website to support the Plant Clinic, a free resource offering home gardeners and green professionals science-based best practices plant care information.


Essential Functions:




  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Plant Clinic's operations and audience by shadowing staff and volunteers, utilizing training materials, and observing client interactions.



  • Work closely with Plant Clinic staff to evaluate, enhance, and update plant information and horticultural resources featured on the website.



  • Conduct thorough research and produce well-structured, accurate, and informative website content using library resources, reputable online sources, and other available references.



  • Demonstrate alignment with the Arboretum's employee core values.



  • Perform other duties as assigned.





Qualifications
:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience and/or related coursework in horticulture, perennials, or related fields required. Strong writing skills required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications is strongly preferred.
