Essential Job Duties |
The Agroecology Lab Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Agroecology Professor to support the establishment and growth of the Agroecology Lab, the undergraduate Agroecology Major, and the Agroecology Education Farm. The coordinator will assist in a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the functionality and efficacy of the program while contributing to ongoing agroecological research and education projects. The coordinator will play a key role in developing and fostering relationships with farmers, private and public sector actors in the region to support collaborative research and community-based outreach efforts. The coordinator will collaborate with the Agroecology Education Farm manager and Sustainable Agriculture Systems Unit technician at the Lake Wheeler Field Lab to ensure smooth project execution and coordination across various activities. The coordinator will also assist in reviewing and summarizing relevant scientific literature, drafting reports and educational materials to enhance agroecology curriculum.
Responsibilities will likely include:
- Outreach to organic, agroecological, sustainable, and/or regenerative farms in region to develop potential job opportunities for agroecology students or recent agroecology graduates
- Network with organizations in the public sector (e.g., non-profits, community-based entities) striving to improve access to food and education
- Create outreach and education materials, such as reports, videos, social media posts, brochures for the Agroecology Major, the Agroecology Education Farm, and the Sustainable Agriculture Systems Unit at the Lake Wheeler Field Lab
- Assist in gathering background material for grant applications
- Helping set up data collection systems to measure impact
