Job Description Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) has an immediate opening for a Program Management Office (PMO) Director in our Strategy & Innovation Services division. The primary responsibilities of this position include leading the identification, implementation and facilitation of a project management process and governance model for strategic initiatives. This involves individual project intake, scoring, prioritization, tracking, and reporting that drives business value and adheres to the Cooperative's strategy. This position is also responsible for leading the identification, development, execution, and monitoring of project and portfolio KPI's, metrics, leading indicators, project trending, executive presentations, and portfolio status reports. The PMO Director is also responsible for building and maintaining relationships with senior leadership and key PMO stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor, and providing coaching and mentoring to PMO staff and project managers, fostering collaboration, strategic alignment, and integrated planning and execution across multiple business functions. Lastly, the PMO Director will manage cross functional projects in support of other business units. This may include oversight and/or coordination of master work plans focused on reliability, resiliency, deployment of distributed energy resources, and/or other areas as required to meet specific goals or needs of the Cooperative or its customer-members, or to satisfy applicable policy, legal, or regulatory considerations and mandates, including those established by the Maryland Public Service Commission. A successful candidate will bring initiative and a collaborative attitude. They will be comfortable working across all departments that have varying priorities, work styles, and jargon. Doing so will require active listening and demonstrated empathy to understand how best to support the crucial work of each. A successful candidate will have strong communications skills, written and verbal, as well as public speaking, stakeholder facilitation, and an ability to create visual artifacts such as dashboards and graphs. Understanding risk and the value of formal processes to identify, reduce, and manage them will also be central to this role. This position requires a four-year college degree, with emphasis in Project Management, Business/Business Administration, Information Technology and/or Finance. A minimum of ten (10) or more years of business professional experience, electric utility or similar business preferred, that includes managing an enterprise PMO, strategic planning, financial analysis, and/or other related positions. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred. The starting salary range for this position is $103,100 - $138,800. SMECO offers an excellent benefits program including a 401(k) 6% dollar for dollar match and additional 3% non-elective company contribution.
