The Development Assistant provides general administrative support for the Boston Children's Hospital Trust, the fundraising department of Boston Children's Hospital. The Development Assistant is part of the Trust Administrative Services team providing general office support for a 200-person fundraising department.

This position requires at least four days per week onsite.

The Development Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Provides general office support including answering phones, assisting with mail and deliveries and couriers, greeting and directing guests, assisting with parking validations for donor visitors, and providing other basic administrative help as necessary.
  • Supports the maintenance and inventory of office, mailroom, and kitchen supplies.
  • Reserves and prepares conference rooms and orders refreshments for meetings and donor visits.
  • Makes local, national, and/or international travel arrangements for Trust staff, and hospital staff as needed.
  • Supports the development of training materials, and office procedure documentation for onboarding new and instructing existing staff.
  • Prepares invoices for the department including payment requisitions for vendors, employee
  • reimbursements and serves as contact to resolve discrepancies. May reconcile monthly bills with overall budget.
  • Assists in coordinating logistics for events including tracking attendance, securing room space,
  • ordering refreshments with vendors and working at the event.
  • Supports supervisor with projects and preparation of reports and documents, as needed.
  • This position would require four days per week onsite and then may be three days onsite according to need.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Associate's degree required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred and would replace the experience requirement.
  • Four (4) years of work experience. Education may substitute for experience.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with others and foster a positive organization and brand
  • image.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal).
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite skills (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Critical thinking skills/ability to communicate professionally.
