- Developing and implementing nutrition-related goals/objectives, policies, procedures, and standards of care in collaboration with other hospital staff and advisory/oversight committees, improving efficiency and quality of patient care and overall operations. Working with the Clinical Nutrition Director, planning and prioritizing department-wide goals and objectives.
- Overseeing staff recruitment and selection processes. Evaluating, developing, and conducting orientation, training, and continuing education programs within the department and for other hospital staff. Administering competency assessments for professional, technical, and support staff.
- Managing, motivating, and developing staff. Developing and maintaining staff and student schedules. Conducting performance reviews and recommending hires, promotions, pay increases, and disciplinary actions.
- Evaluating, developing, and conducting orientation, clinical training, and continuing education programs within the department and for other hospital allied health personnel. Contributing to the preparation of clinical nutrition communication materials for staff, patients and the public (ie Formula recalls).
- Monitoring and maintaining compliance with departmental quality improvement initiatives, governmental and accreditation requirements, professional credentialing, and state licensure requirements. Applying regulatory knowledge of agencies including Joint Commission, DPH, FDA, and CMS.
- Leading and participating in interprofessional projects and committees, including Quality/Performance Improvement, Safety Events, and the Nutrition Advisory Committee.
- Preparing, monitoring, and maintaining annual operations and capital budgets for Feeding Preparation Center locations. Evaluating budget performance and adjusting service/operations as needed. Making budget recommendations to the director for capital and operating needs.
- Keeping abreast of nutrition research, clinical practice, food service, management, and reimbursement trends and practices. Developing and recommending changes in department protocols to reflect current best practices and thinking. Attending and participating in professional organizations, conferences, and other educational programs to obtain and share information. Actively pursuing and utilizing opportunities for professional development. Playing a leadership role in professional organizations and authoring written publications. Coordinating and participating in journal reviews and other educational forums on a regular basis. Participating in department/program-specific research.
- Providing direct patient care as needed.
To qualify, you must have...
- Bachelor's degree in nutrition & Dietetics, Healthcare, or closely related field
- Master's degree preferred
- 6 years of progressive experience in Dietetics and demonstration of project management and leadership experience.
- Prior experience in Pediatrics at an Academic Medical Center preferred.
- Registration by Commission on Dietetic Registration, the Credentialing agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as a Registered Dietitian.
- ServSafe Manager Certification
- Experience with Epic and Timeless, preferred
- Vast knowledge of infant and pediatric formulas, preferred
