The position leads continuous improvement activities, monitors on-going process-related functions, and uses data to ensure stable, safe, and efficient operations. Position uses historical data to drive operating recommendations. Position provides client information to ensure their satisfaction. This position will work with the Corporate Process Engineers for evaluation, analysis, testing and other process engineering related activities. This position will perform activities such as:



  • Implementing biosolids thermal drying technologies into existing process equipment and design.
  • Leading a Continuous Improvement team.
  • Evaluating retrofit/repair of thermal, air, and solids conveyance equipment. The system/equipment can include biosolids dewatering or drying equipment, conveyors, air treatment systems, and dried product storage and conveyance.
  • Participating in engineering safety hazard reviews as needed for any proposed process changes.
  • Providing support and engineering analysis for cross-functional teams at corporate level or in other plants as needed and available.
  • Leading root cause analysis for process incidents and near misses.
  • Completing Management of Change protocols
  • Recognizing and resolving hazards at the plant level.
  • Developing and implementing detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for safe and efficient operations and maintenance.


In coordination with Plant Manager and Corporate Safety, ensure effective safety program implementation, including safety procedures, safety equipment, safety meetings, and recordkeeping. This position will perform activities such as:



  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, and Corporate Safety Standards.
  • Leading training across shifts as part of maintaining the safety program.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory or external audits.
  • Documenting and resolving non-compliances.
  • Completing incident reviews for personnel and process safety.
  • Providing clear, concise, and timely safety-related communications to plant personnel.
  • Completing or coordinating mandatory inspections such as: tanks, fall protection, AED, and cranes.
  • Ensuring timely document and policy reviews such as: EAP, SPCC & LO/TO.


Education and Experience Required

Knowledge of general operation of an industrial processing plant and a wastewater treatment plant. Must have Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with two to three years of prior operations and maintenance experience.
