Senior Staff Engineer

Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining a scalable distributed database or data processing system. Design and develop software, using C++, for delivering features in collaboration with other vested parties. Perform code reviews and make recommendations on how to improve our software development processes. Work with cross-role partners, and other teams to specify, prioritize and deliver new features. Estimate task complexity, report progress, and assess and voice risks for projects they are involved in. Mentor junior engineers and assist them in designing and implementing features. Review the design documents and code of other engineers in the organization. Help leadership guide the strategic and technical vision for the product and organization. Participate in an on-call rotation and help respond to production incidents and customer requests. Stay up to date on industry trends and advise engineering leadership on future direction. Conduct Software Engineer hiring interviews. Telecommuting permissible from any location within US.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and six (6) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related role

Experience and/or education must include:  

1. Using data structures to develop high performance data intensive applications such as stream processing engines;

2. Knowledge of algorithms to deliver a highly performance data intensive application;

3. Designing, developing features for a distributed system;

4. Knowledge of database internals to ensure right design/implementation decisions;

5. Muti-threaded/high concurrency systems;

6. Proficiency in a modern programming language (C++ or Go or Java); and

7. Modern software development practices, including version control and deployment techniques.
