SITE MANAGER - FOSSIL POWER

TASK MANAGEMENT OF ASH MATERIAL MOVEMENT

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, responsible for the successful execution of all contract obligations at assigned sites. Coordinate and provide oversight of task-managed activities associated with on and off-site movement of fossil power plant ash material with large front-end loaders and dump trucks at several fossil sites. Ensures that all work is performed in a safe and productive manner and in accordance with the quality standards of both the customer and D&Z. Serves as the principal contact to the customer for day-to-day operational issues and business development opportunities. Provides assistance with proposals, as required. Effectively manages relationships with key client stakeholders. Responsible for maintaining internal and external industry knowledge and best practices through continuous learning and development.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for the overall safety of staff and Open Shop craft employees at assigned sites and for auditing safety performance. Accountable for implementing, evaluating and making recommendations to improve the site safety plan.
  • Under minimal supervision, directs, delegates, and executes work through others at site safely, within budget, and in accordance with terms of contract, while identifying and implementing customer processes to ensure project controls and planning objectives are met. Responsible for high level planning activities with minimal oversight from Director of Operations.
  • Responsible for understanding contract requirements and for executing the contract to the financial benefit of the company. Capable of preparing high-level input for contract changes and additions to contractual agreements.
  • Oversees orientation and development of onsite staff and craft employees, including employee relations, human performance and productivity, performance management and employment management.
  • Build broad-based Customer relationship and use information obtained to make improvements in products and services. Implement betterment principles into daily work and project completion.
  • Responsible for resolving day-to-day work-related issues with Customer, employees, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Prepare daily logs for all sites for submittal to D&Z Management team as well as weekly reports for communications with the client, (manhours, fuel consumption etc.).



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Customer, site staff and craft employees and recommend process improvements to key Customer leadership contacts, specifically within a matrix organization. Strong knowledge and understanding of contract labor management and application of any required regulatory guidelines to practice.
  • Experience in work activities involving the use of heavy equipment, such as large front-end loaders and on/off-road dump trucks, to perform the movement of fossil power plant ash material at several Client fossil sites.
  • Ability to identify successors, coach, and provide development opportunities to employees.
  • Ability to negotiate skillfully and use effective listening skills to identify concerns.
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
  • Working knowledge of finance and cost controls.
  • Possess or obtain OSHA 30 certification.
  • Attend vehicle operator training to ensure knowledge base for the equipment to be overseen.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Related Field Preferred

Experience: 5 - 10 Years of Experience in the Fossil Power Industry, Extensive Mechanical and BOP Knowledge

Earth moving experience and/or coal yard operation knowledge are a plus.

Certifications: Completion of a Journeyman Program and/or Equivalent Combination of Education & Experience Required

OSHA 30 - Can be provided if not currently certified.

  • Capacity to reason and make sound decisions
  • Ability to wear a mask, respirator, high visibility vest, or other equipment
  • Ability to regularly perform all job functions at Company's office or work site
  • Ability to withstand environmental conditions (e.g., extreme heat or cold, grass, wind, sand, fumes, odors, gases, extreme noise, etc.)
  • Ability to successfully complete elements required to obtain unescorted access to Client facilities/plants (background screening, drug/alcohol screening, psychological screening, training, etc.)



In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $96,000 - $210,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and other factors.
