Join our team as a Mental Health Technician! As part of a compassionate and dynamic healthcare team, you'll provide crucial patient care, offer a listening ear, and ensure that our patients are receiving the best support they need during their time with us. Whether you're helping with daily activities, observing patient progress, or ensuring our unit runs smoothly, you'll be making a real difference in the lives of others. Who You'll Be Helping: You'll provide care to patients of varying age groups, primarily focusing on adults, but depending on your role, you may support a wide range of patients. What You'll Be Doing: Patient Care:
- Provide hands-on care based on the direction of licensed staff. From assisting with personal hygiene to supporting activities of daily living, you'll be there for patients at every step of their care.
- Your care could range from providing minimal to total assistance depending on the patient's condition. You'll adapt and support their unique needs.
Monitoring and Documentation:
- Observe and document patient behavior, treatment, activities, and conditions. Keep track of how each patient is doing, ensuring their progress is accurately recorded.
- Regularly report any observations and concerns to the licensed staff so everyone is on the same page.
Assist with Specimens and Equipment:
- Help collect and transport specimens, and maintain all equipment according to departmental guidelines.
Clerical Duties:
- You'll also play a role in the smooth running of the unit by performing clerical tasks, including answering calls, keeping medical records updated, ordering supplies, and ensuring everything is clean and organized.
Unit Maintenance:
- Help keep the unit safe, clean, and welcoming. From maintaining equipment to helping with environmental safety, you'll ensure the department runs smoothly.
Cultural Sensitivity and Respect:
- Deliver care in a manner that respects each patient's rights and choices, while being mindful of cultural diversity in every interaction.
Creating a Safe and Welcoming Environment:
- You'll help foster a therapeutic and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, always ensuring that we maintain a positive, helpful demeanor in all interactions.
Compliance and Training:
- Stay on top of all necessary compliance, regulations, and training, while ensuring that you're meeting both company and healthcare standards.
- Participate in training activities and improve your skills, ensuring top-quality patient care every day.
What We're Looking For: If you're eager to provide direct patient care while working in a collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you! Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to obtain BCLS certification within 120 days of hire and maintain it for continued employment.
- Clearance through the Family Care Registry.
- Successful completion of department-specific orientation, including both classroom and clinical training.
- Training or experience as required by Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) regulations, including one of the following:
- Enrollment in a professional or practical nursing program (with completed fundamentals of nursing),
- Past experience as a nursing assistant, EMT, or surgical technician,
- Completion of a UAP training program in Missouri within the past 3 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in patient care, such as helping with ambulation, feeding, or personal hygiene.
- Prior mental health experience.
- BCLS certification (or willingness to obtain).
Why You'll Love It Here:
- Make a Difference: You'll be part of a team that's focused on improving the lives of those facing mental health challenges, offering support and care at every step of the way.
- Learning Opportunities: There's always something new to learn, whether it's through hands-on patient care or professional development.
- Great Team Environment: Work with a passionate, supportive team who values your contributions and is dedicated to making a difference in our patients' lives.
