General Summary of Position Plays a key role as part of MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center's Leadership team, integrating clinical, operational and administrative functions. Spans multiple departments to function as a project manager, facilitator, consultant, data analyst, consensus-builder and/or proxy for SVP Operations to enhance collaboration and cohesion across the facility. Ensures that tangible improvements are made and steady progress communicated through policies, protocols and active practice to increase the value of care provided. Will perform frequent operational assessments, productivity reviews, assess new business opportunities and utilize other Systemness resources to drive revenue augmentation and expense reduction efficiency. Ensures that appropriate change management principals are applied in the areas impacted by change, providing frequent recommendations and feedback to senior leaders. Contributes to the achievement of dynamic goals, projects, timely initiatives and emerging needs across MFSMC's Operational departments and those deemed appropriateCreates standards of performance for financial management and operational efficiency within the hospital's Operations DivisionCollaborates with department directors and SVP Operations to develop operating and staffing budgets, in addition to monitoring activities throughout the fiscal year. Routinely analyzes financial data and trends pertaining to budget monitoring and personnel/supply variance reporting, provider and regulated billing, cost control, revenue enhancement and long-range plansHelps track hospital and systemwide capital projects/purchases, including continuous status checks, process step identification, forecasting and facilitation of annual submission exercises.Serves as a positive, enthusiastic, helpful, engaging, curious and dedicated member of the Operations Division leadership, especially through participation in Associate recognition eventsMaintains effective communication between administration, physician leadership, clinical and administrative staff and customers. Maintains appropriate communication within and between functional units, including other MSH business units and external organizationsServes as a liaison to external groups, including community organizations, educational faculty, key strategic partners and moreActively participates in hospital and health system efforts for Workplace Violence Prevention and Emergency Preparedness, including quality assurance testing, drill creation and facilitation Ensures responsiveness and fosters ongoing relationships with patients, visitors and others, by serving as a liaison for externally-focused functions, such as parking, wayfinding and campus first impressionsParticipates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams, including Environment of Care rounds, President's Goal initiatives and othersWorks with medical group leaders and physicians (hospital-based and specialists) to review productivity, ensure resource efficiency and forecast opportunities to achieve financial goalsAssists with oversight of construction project management, including interaction with contracted partners, vendors, MSH stakeholders and othersEffectively and efficiently influences processes, outcomes and behaviors to complete assignments in a timely and quality focused mannerParticipates in meetings, on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as requiredIntegrates work with all other departmental initiatives and revises, as necessary. Anticipates needs of customers and addresses these appropriately. Plans work to be done in concert with the needs of MedStar Health and MFSMC leadershipSupports meetings, as necessary. Prepares materials and ensures appropriate communications before, during and after the meetingCoordinates, develops and monitors quality improvement efforts. Assembles and interprets data to be reported on a regular basis. Assists in developing programs and processes to improve logistics and overall provision of care services, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission guidelines.Position may require flexible scheduling including evening and weekend hours to accomplish work tasks.
Minimum Qualifications Education
- Bachelor's degree Bachelor's degree in healthcare field or business administration or related field, plus equivalent related experience. required or
- Master's degree preferred
Experience
- 5-7 years Experience in healthcare management, clinical leadership or healthcare consulting. Prior work experience within an inpatient hospital facility, especially within a matrixed organization, preferred. Demonstrated experience working across diverse teams, interacting with Clinicians, Medical Staff and familiarity across the spectrum of healthcare environments from telehealth and ambulatory settings to inpatient hospitals. required
Licenses and Certifications
- No special certification, registration or licensure required or
- Preference given for participation in a healthcare professional organization (NAHSE, ACHE, MGMA, etc.) and achievement or pursuit of its accompanying board certification credential (fellow, certification, etc.). preferred
