Job Summary:

University Housing is looking for an experienced individual to join our Dining & Culinary Services management team! The Catering Sales Coordinator for Housing Catering will be the primary contact between clients and the catering operation.

This individual will need to be an effective communicator with excellent organizational skills. The successful candidate will need to communicate with various stakeholders both internal and external, and be the primary point of contact for our catering clients.


Responsibilities:
Creates an exceptional customer service experience in all service areas. Monitors a team that provides direct customer service, maintains effective working relationships with clients, and communicates catering's detailed event plans to clients.

  • 40% Plans daily catering operations and schedules staff and services as necessary
  • 20% Implements standards for food quality and presentation, customer service, operations, and sanitation for all catered events
  • 20% Serves as primary contact for event day coordination and where event management presence is needed, serves as primary lead
  • 20% May supervise, coach, and mentor full-time and student staff in their various duties


Tasks:

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all catering clients.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all catering clients, maintaining a high visibility at all assigned events and functions.
  • Drive food delivery trucks to efficiently transport staff and supplies to other units and/or events.
  • Interact with customers while displaying knowledge of food products, allergens, and food safety.
  • Perform duties in a high-volume, dynamic, student residential dining environment.
  • Plans and coordinates daily catering sales operations.
  • Provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency.
  • Supervise and lead the work of dining staff and student workers.

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field.


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
- 2-3 years food service experience in supervisory or lead work environment

Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of dining, catering, or related hospitality experience.
- Experience supervising or acting in a team lead capacity. Preference will be given to those who have experience in a catering operation or other culinary setting.
- Knowledge of booking/catering software.
- Event management experience


License/Certification:

Required
Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $57,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
This is a full-time appointment. The starting annual salary is $57,000 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package.


Additional Information:

Schedule for this position is primarily based on catering events and includes frequent weekends and evenings. Schedule alterations as operations and position expectations demand.
