FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Come join Dallas Fort Worth's top source for local news and be the first Assistant News Director to lead the KDFW news team in a brand new, state-of-the-art facility coming in 2026. KDFW Fox 4 is seeking a digitally focused, dynamic, high-performing, results-driven Assistant News Director to build on our long-term success and lead our team into the future. KDFW airs 78.5 hours of local news and programming each week, more than double the news of any other station in Dallas Fort Worth. We are actively seeking a dynamic and experienced News leader with exceptional news judgment to serve as the second-in-command in our digital first newsroom. In collaboration with the VP News Director, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily news and content operations across all platforms. The ideal candidate will be expected to develop new, original content for digital, streaming and linear platforms. They must bring a creative approach to the job with a successful track record of developing new ideas and seeing those ideas to fruition. The Assistant News Director candidate will be part of a winning team that believes in supporting, mentoring and training our staff. Duties and Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience and understanding of digital and social media operations, coupled with a keen awareness of emerging trends in new media. As a key member of our leadership team, the candidate will be responsible for managing a large editorial team. Working closely with the managing editor, executive producers, reporters, and digital staff, the candidate will leverage strong planning skills to ensure the seamless execution of news coverage. The ability to navigate and adapt to the evolving media landscape is crucial. The qualified candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of current local, national, and international events and issues. Additionally, they will represent the station in a manner consistent with the business standards and policies of the Company. Beyond daily operations, the candidate will contribute to the resolution of staffing and equipment issues and effectively manage newsroom expenses, subpoenas, licensing, and vendor contracts. The candidate should be adaptable, innovative, and committed to maintaining the high journalistic standards of our organization. Other duties will be assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary. Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field of study from an accredited college/university, and a minimum of five years' experience in news management with noted leadership skills is required. Must have a working knowledge of journalistic ethics, libel and privacy laws. Must have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple hours of daily newscasts and shows. Must have excellent supervisory, people and management skills. Requires a unique and diverse combination of computers, engineering, budgeting, purchasing, cost control, personnel issues and planning experience along with a background in journalism and TV news. Must be able to use newsroom computer systems, including iNews. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $160,000.00-180,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
