Responsibilities

The OB Technician performs a variety of patient care and clerical duties to assist and support the organization and function of the Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum (LDRP). Works cooperatively with and under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Provides direct care to patient of various ages (neonate, adolescent, adult). Interacts with physicians, patients, families/significant others, hospital staff and community agencies in providing basic care. Is responsible for completion and processing of the birth certificates, and "Declaration of Paternity" forms.



Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.
2. Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, ROP, Paramedic Training Program or equivalent required.
3. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
4. Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training with a minimum of 1 year of experience (preferably in a surgical setting).
