To provide inpatient and outpatient dental services. |

Qualifications: Required:
- Graduate of an accredited American Dental School with a N.J.
- Residency Permit.
- Experience:
- None required.

Essential Functions:
- Well lighted, moderately well ventilated, climate controlled Dental Suite and hospital.
Moderate to high risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens while treating patient s dental needs. Possible risk of exposure to respiratory communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandated during all patient care experiences.
The resident will provide to the best of his/her ability outpatient and inpatient dental care and consultative services to all patients who desire such treatment and are determined to be physically, psychologically and medically able to undergo such care. |
The resident will attend all lectures, conferences and seminars and will be prepared to make meaningful contributions. |
The resident will attend and prepare for all Medical Rotations. |
Emergency patients are treated in a competent, caring manner as the situation arises. The resident must be flexible to allow for the treatment of emergencies. |
The resident will cooperate with and be prepared to work with all attending staff members. |
The resident will be immediately available when on-call for the 24 hour treatment of dental emergencies when requested. |
The resident will participate in all oral health screenings, patient education seminars, and all community education programs as assigned. |
Residents will coordinate patient treatments with other Medical Departments, physicians and ancillary services. |
In situational leadership, the resident demonstrates the ability to respond positively to changing circumstances so as to maximize the opportunity or minimize the problem. He/she acts decisively and takes effective action. |
The resident carries out the principles of positive guest relations by maintaining good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with all patients and fellow workers. |
Applies knowledge of growth and development over the life span. Applies knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on his or her assigned unit, i.e., infant, adult, pediatric, geriatric and adolescent. Asses data reflective of each patients status and interprets information needed in order to identify each patient age requirements relative to his or her age specific health care needs. |
Environment of Care Standard Demonstrates the awareness of safety, security, life safety, emergency preparedness and utility and equipment management policies competencies. Adheres to Standard Precautions Adheres to Safety and Infection Control policies Attends mandatory in-services Helps maintain a safe and clean patient/work environment Follows incident reporting procedures Ensures that appropriate standards of practice follow corporate compliance guidelines, and that results of accreditation surveys and licensure reviews by NJSDOH and JCAHO are satisfactory. Acts in an ethical and legal manner, and assures that all actions are in the best interest of both patients and the hospital. |
