PFERD INC is looking for a Senior Accountant candidate who has the interest of transitioning into an Accounting Manager role within approximatelyone - two years. This position is ideal for a driven individual seeking career growth, leadership development, and increasing responsibility in accounting operations.

Upon joining the company as a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in financial reporting, compliance, and process improvements.

Senior Accountant Responsibilities Include:


  • Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and proper classification of transactions.
  • Assist in financial audits by providing documentation and explanations to auditors.
  • Prepare and file tax reports, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by analyzing financial trends.
  • Monitor and improve internal controls and accounting processes.
  • Assist in special projects such as system implementations and financial analysis initiatives.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accountants.

Senior Accountant Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 4-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in corporate or public accounting.
  • CPA certification a plus but not required.
  • Experience with leadership or supervisory tasks is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems SAP (preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with an ability to transition into management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.

Your development plan for progression to Accounting Manager would include:


  • Gradually overseeing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
  • Be able to manage and develop a team of accountants/specialists, providing leadership, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Taking ownership of ensuring accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Leading the preparation and review of financial statements and reports, formanagement.
  • Reviewing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Collaborating with auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
  • Participating in process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting operations.
  • Supporting financial planning, budgeting, and variance analysis with increasing leadership responsibilities.
  • Working cross-functionally with other departments to optimize financial workflows and reporting.
