Description The Staff Research Associate III (SRA III) will work closely with the Principal Investigator, to understand the genetic factors that contribute to an individual's susceptibility for disease and other factors that are clinically relevant (e.g. genetic predisposition for drug contraindications).
Duties of the SRA III include but are not limited to: create innovative sequencing pipelines to analyze short and long read high throughput sequencing read data to identify complex genetic abnormalities in a pipeline that is the most cost effective with the most accurate results; create polygenic risk score models that are clinically relevant; work with researchers and clinicians to understand how to use and report genetic predisposition data to patients in the clinic; produce written reports, final executable code, and visual representation of results. The SRA III must be able to travel to appropriate scientific meetings to present results.
This is a full-time, 3-month limited position that may convert to career.
Salary Range: $66,431.27 - $106,830.32 Annually
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology or related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Working knowledge and experience with basic biology.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in biology or related area
  • Working knowledge of next gen sequencing data analysis/computational biology
  • Experience using R, Shell, GitHub, Python
  • Understanding of DNA / RNA sequencing methods
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements such as IRB
  • Excellent recordkeeping skills
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with other researchers and clinicians
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to think critically, and demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal instructions
  • Computer proficient for word processing, data tabulation, graphing, email and scientific database search (NCBI-PubMed).
