HDR is hiring a Construction Utility Coordinator to work on a major construction program for our client in Pompano Beach or Orlando, FL. This position will require leadership skills to provide support with utility operations which could impact construction.
Primary Responsibilities
- Identify potential utility conflicts during design
- Identify problems with utility work schedules
- Assist project teams with utility issues during construction
- Guide project teams through the various department manuals and rules as it pertains to utilities
- Review plan revisions for changes that may impact utilities
- Coordinate utility permits through construction projects
- Coordinate and assist in statewide utility issues
- Designating department-owned facilities.
- Utility work in CPM schedules.
- New service work in Utility Work Schedules.
- Reasons for utility work in Utility Work Schedules.
- Conflicting language in RFPs.
- Confirm all prior to construction utility relocations are completed before the project starts.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with warranty coordination working with multiple programs including construction, maintenance, and materials to assist with the identification and correction of items.
During Construction:
- Examine all Contract Documents and develop Warranty Requirement List
- Collaborate with CEI to develop one approved Warranty Requirement List
- As project construction proceeds, Warranty Requirements may change so will need to add or delete warranties and update the Warranty Submittal List accordingly
At or After Final Acceptance:
- Review warranties for acceptability (meet contract requirements)
Annual Value-Added Inspection:
- Value-Added Asphalt: Annual Inspection
- Value-Added Bridge features (primarily deck expansion joints): Annual Inspection
Remedial Work Required (Determined By Annual Value Added Inspection):
- Value Added Feature Annual Inspection status marked as "Ongoing" in CIMS
- Coordinate Remedial Work through completion
- Review construction plans in various phases of design to identify construction challenges and coordinate with both production and construction to help mitigate potential risk associated with building the project
- Review bid documents for built in problems; flaws that may impede construction or factors that may cause impacts to any stakeholder in terms of time, cost, or quality.
- Reviews 90%, 100% and final plans for constructability issues, potential conflicts, and incorporation of previous electronic review comment (ERC) responses into subsequent submittals. Properly enter comments in ERC and review responses to ensure they best address the comment and are shown in the plans.
- Optimize productivity, efficiency, and service quality across environments:
- Develop and track a means to measure the success of the constructability reviews: i.e. Change Orders on reviewed vs not reviewed projects, bid questions, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Science, Construction Management, or related discipline
- 4 or more years of experience as either a Utility Coordinator or Plans Reviewer on public works projects or as a Project Manager for a Utility Owner involved in utility design, coordination, and construction of utilities on public works projects. Combination of either position will be acceptable
- Prior Florida Turnpike or FDOT experience
- Ability to work independently and effectively with little or no supervision
- Ability to effectively communicate with multiple parties involved
- Local candidates preferred
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Microsoft Office product experience
- General background-related experience
