THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will participate in the raising, caring and distribution of a large number of pheasants to be released for the sportsman of Pennsylvania. Your work involves preparing the brooder houses, cleaning and disinfecting the buildings and equipment, ensuring that temperature, ventilation, lighting, feed and water are properly maintained. You will have the opportunity to observe the behavior of the birds during all phases of their development to determine that all environmental factors are properly maintained.

Additionally, you will perform maintenance on equipment used on Commonwealth buildings, grounds, and fleet of vehicles. Skilled trades needed to accomplish these tasks include but are not limited to carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, farming, and mechanical.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • 3 Year Limited Term, Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months propagation experience working at a breeding facility that produces a minimum of 1000 game birds, which includes skilled maintenance and trades work utilized in building construction and equipment maintenance and operation.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires an active Pennsylvania driver's license, which is not under suspension.
