Job Description

Summary/Objective

Buffalo Rock Company is an award-winning Pepsi-Cola Bottler founded in Birmingham, AL, more than 123 years ago. Buffalo Rock Company seeks a creative, self-starter to assist marketing and media efforts. The Marketing and Media Intern will assist the marketing and media team with a variety of tasks, including market research, media planning and buying, social media management, content creation, event planning, executing marketing strategies to promote our products or services, brand awareness, help generate leads, and drive revenue growth. They will gain experience in marketing strategies, digital media, and various marketing channels. They will work independently and, in a team, to fulfill organizational goals and projects related to internal campaigns, marketing and media strategy, assisting company leadership, programming and events.

Essential functions

  • Support the marketing and communications team in the creation and execution of marketing campaigns across various channels (social media, email, web, print).

  • Conduct market and competitor research to identify trends, audience preferences, and potential opportunities.

  • Help monitor and engage with audiences on platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter).

  • Gather and analyze campaign performance metrics and generate basic reports to evaluate effectiveness.

  • Assist in organizing promotional events, trade shows, or internal company functions.

  • Assist in facilitation of marketing/corporate-led sponsorship opportunities.

  • Help with general marketing admin tasks such as maintaining databases, updating marketing materials, and managing email lists.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent brand messaging.

  • Stay up to date with the latest marketing trends, tools, and best practices.

  • Assist with basic graphic design tasks.

  • Carry out other duties assigned by management.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Work environment

* Primarily inside work with most if not all working hours in a close office environment.

Required education and experience

* Education:

o High school graduate or general education degree (GED)

o Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising or similar: Preferred

* Experience:

o 2+ years' experience in a communications or marketing role: Preferred

o Event planning experience: Preferred.

* Computer Skills:

o Must have a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Office 365 including: SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams. Ability to operate office equipment i.e., pc. Requires demonstrated ability to use advanced techniques in spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.

o Graphic design skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator): Preferred

* Certifications and Licenses:

o Driver's License with a good driving record (MVR): Required

* Other Requirements:

o Excellent knowledge and ability to apply AP writing style: Preferred

o Knowledge of communications and marketing best practices: Preferred

o Knowledge of basic video filming & editing: Preferred

o Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

o Ability to build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
