Hill International is seeking a Project Controls Generalist in San Diego, California
- Responsible for the preparation, coordination, and documentation of medium to complex level financial analysis projects.
- Identifies trends, anomalies and patterns in financial data and reports insight-backed findings to various levels of management.
- Maintaining project budgets, monitoring project costs and variances, providing cost analysis and forecasting, tracking spending and ensuring compliance with budget.
- Responsible for maintaining project schedules, monitoring project progress against the schedule, identifying and mitigating potential delays, analyzing schedule impacts and recommending solutions.
- Responsible for direct coordination support of projects and contracts in a functional area.
- Shall have a general working knowledge with regards to the systems, technology, and protocols used in deploying system protection equipment for substation, transmission, distribution, and other electrical utility deployments.
- Submits completed and approved design request documentation to appropriate work groups.
- Tracks and supports program/technical support operations involving multiple project/task orders and personnel at diverse locations.
- Tracks planning and execution of all program/technical support activities.
- Facilitates site-walks and project meetings when project manager cannot attend.
- Tracks meeting minutes, arranges meeting schedules, provides support for tracking risk, issues and action items.
- Create and update program and project team documents and subsequent versions for multiple programs.
- Integrate known processes into Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Responsible for records management from initiation to archival.
- Coordinate tasks with other Document control Specialist.
- Analyze project documentation for compression opportunities and identify developing problem areas for closeout.
- Perform daily document management tasks such as naming and tagging documents, enforcing document management protocols.
- Support continuous improvement activities and change management.
- B.S. in Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Business Management or equivalent field; equivalent experience would be considered.
- 3-5+ years experience providing direct project coordination support to Program or Project Managers pertaining to construction projects: Electrical/Gas Substation, Compressor, Transmission, Distribution, IT, or Civil projects.
- CAPM, Agile or other Project Management certifications, training and/or demonstrated experience.
- Must be able to assess the potential financial impact of a project to the Company.
- Must possess the ability to review complex problems and propose innovative solutions.
- Must be able to build solid business cases/project justifications Excellent verbal, written communication, presentation and reporting skills.
- Communicate effectively to a diverse audience of different levels of education and expertise verbally and in writing; able to present to a large audience; works well in one-on-one and group settings requiring excellent interpersonal skills.
- Expert Excel and financial modeling abilities.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize conflicting deliverables.
- This is a hybrid work schedule, 3 days a week in the San Diego office.
