Position: Field Coordinator I

Location: Hybrid, must reside within an hour of Dover, DE or Salisbury, MD office locations

Your role in our success will be...

Responsibility for exhibiting Chesapeake Utilities Corporation's Mission, Vision and Values, regarding external customers, agencies, vendors, internal departments and co-workers. This position will facilitate direct oversight of all phases of construction related activities for capital project construction within assigned service territory. Coordinate and foster business relationships with internal and external parties, including residential, commercial, and industrial customers along with outside contractors. Responsibility for actively coordinating the process from the time the Marketing Department signs the customer until the meter is activated for service.

What you'll be working on...



  • Coordinating all phases of construction in a timely manner that is consistent with and meets the customer's expectations and the expectation of the Company.
  • Attending pre-construction and operation meetings in order to ensure proper scheduling and timing of jobs and tasks for internal and external resources.
  • Instructing Company personnel and outside contractors in the safe and economical completion of assignments and ensure that all facets of the project are performed in accordance with all applicable standards, procedures, codes, and regulations.
  • Ensuring that all purchases, receipts and issues are properly processed and documented.
  • Initiating and documenting necessary information to establish electronic and hard copy project folders that include estimates, bids, descriptions, expenditures, and as-builts.
  • Maintaining assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment.
  • Coordinating with the internal Inspectors to ensure that all projects are appropriately monitored.
  • Assisting with lay-out, planning, and communication of project assignments with contractors, engineering, and operations personnel.
  • Monitoring Contractor activity and ensure completed tasks meet or exceed requirements.
  • Proper documentation of field adjustments.
  • Reviewing all project's as-built drawings and material lists, service records, valve cards, and line markers for accuracy and completeness, forwarding submitted information to Engineering for addition to Company's system maps.
  • Reconciling projects to ensure adherence to budget and correct any errors with regards to charges and materials while noting necessary project changes.
  • Reporting on all projects under design and construction to management as requested.


Who you are...



  • Knowledgeable of Company safety rules, regulations and procedures
  • Knowledgeable in safe operations of tools and equipment, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and OSHA regulations
  • Knowledgeable of company mapping practices and procedures
  • High level of concise and clear communications necessary to establish strong business relationships with customers and outside contractors
  • Basic principles of natural gas and propane gas
  • Valid Driver's License with a responsible driving record
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Conscientious work ethic
  • Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office Applications


Where you'll be working...



  • Primarily outside in construction type settings and office work environment
  • Frequent daily travel
  • Working around potentially flammable and hazardous substances in natural gas and propane
  • Duties require lifting and the use of various hand and power tools (ability to lift 20 - 50 pounds)
