The College Transition Coordinator I collaborates with school districts and community partners to promote a college-going culture and facilitates the transition of high school graduates. The Coordinator assists in the development and implementation of program activities and initiatives and is responsible for college and career exploration, assistance with completing college and financial aid applications, secondary and post-secondary course selection, assistance with the college course registration process, and resolution of individual academic issues.
Job Description Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Provides guidance and solutions for issues and problems regarding educational opportunities, financial literacy, career and post-secondary school exploration, and provides personal coaching to potential first-generation college students, and students with disabilities.
- Builds and maintains relationships with local middle and high schools in Collier, Hendry, Glades, and Lee counties, as well as establishes relationships and collaborates with other community-based programs with first-generation college students.
- Builds and maintains strategic relationships with local community partners.
- Collaborates with campus partners through outreach efforts across the campus community to promote collaboration and improved service to students.
- Serves as a liaison with the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) Program Officer, local superintendents, principals, school counselors and teachers in Collier, Hendry, Glades and Lee counties.
- Works to increase program participants' secondary retention and graduation rates, as well as post-secondary enrollment.
- Develops curriculum and educational materials to support new initiatives.
- Participates in developing new initiatives and leads project to implement program enhancements.
- Organizes and oversees group workshops, participant orientations, college tours, two summer camps and other events and activities.
- Provides mentorship and resources to support students up to one-year after high school graduation.
- Assists with developing training materials for Student Program Assistants, Interns, and Service-Learning Students, and provides on-going training to staff to ensure they remain as experts in compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations.
- Trains and provides daily priorities to student workers in the Outreach Programs.

Additional Job Description Required Qualifications for a College Transition Coordinator I:
- This position requires either four years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel between school districts in Collier, Hendry, Glades, and Lee counties, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida Southwestern, and other locations to attend meetings or events.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Required Qualifications for a College Transition Coordinator II:
- This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel between school districts in Collier, Hendry, Glades, and Lee counties, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida Southwestern, and other locations to attend meetings or events.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook).
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

College Transition Coordinator I - Pay Grade 15 College Transition Coordinator II- Pay Grade 16 Applicants will be evaluated for roles as either College Transition Coordinator I or College Transition Coordinator II based on their qualifications. This is a grant funded position with anticipated refunding. Although renewal of grant is expected, position is contingent upon renewal of grant.
