General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for inventory control in a region, and the implementation of the product supply strategy. The Inventory Specialist represents and acts as the advocate for the needs of their region and, through participation with the Leadership Team, the Inventory Specialist helps craft the overall supply strategy and ensures its successful integration.

Key Personal Attributes:

  • 3-5 years of experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain.

  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.

  • Working knowledge of inventory management software.

  • Ability to accurately track inventory and create reports.

  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret written procedures and reports.

  • The ability to operate and execute strategy within critical deadlines.

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.

  • Experience in the agriculture industry is preferred.

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

  • Coordinate product purchasing, and inbound freight for all locations within the region.

  • Communicate directly with the purchasing team on regional needs and issues and be responsible for making product requests with order requisitions and purchase orders.

  • Cooperate with Sales and Retail Managers to ensure adequate inventories and help to balance inventory within the region.

  • Collaborate with other Inventory Specialists to balance inventory within the division.

  • Coordinate forecasts with Sales and Retail Managers, and monitor product levels on a 30/60/90-day basis.

  • Partner with Sales Managers, Purchasing Leads, and Supply Chain to maintain supplier relations.

  • Provide regular communication with the sales team on product status, backorders, and estimated delivery.

  • Work with Retail Managers to maximize warehouse space and to eliminate inventory overages and shortages.

  • Assess transportation strategy and align with national vendors when possible. Keeping transportation costs competitive and continually communicating with vendors for the best rate and customer service.

  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company SOPs and as directed in the employee handbook.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $47,900 - $67,310.Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience.
