Job Responsibilities
- Oversees and assists team members in assigned functional area, which may include but not limited to, ensuring team is meeting key-deliverables and quality standards, addressing and resolving challenges, managing and tracking performance, and assisting in time management and scheduling; escalates issues to senior leaders as needed.
- Supervises the operation of the Surgical Pathology Gross Room, Frozen Section Rooms and the Autopsy Suites.
- Responsible for updating the Anatomic Pathology Laboratory Information System (LIS) software, physician training and procedural issues.
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of pathophysiology while directing others in specimen triage, description, orientation and sectioning.
- Oversees the operation and development of the LIS as it relates to Gross Pathology, Operating Room Consultation and Autopsy Pathology.
- Leads all Pathologist Assistants within Inova Health System while providing exceptional and courteous service to patients/clinicians.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program.
- Certification: Must be PA (ASCP) certified
- Years of Experience: 4 years of progressive clinical experience as practicing Pathologist Assistant
