Your role with us

As a medical office assistant at our Skyline Clinic, the role focuses on providing excellent front-line patient service, including greeting visitors, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance and referrals, and managing patient records with accuracy and confidentiality. The assistant ensures efficient clinic operations through professional communication, accurate registration and billing processes, and support of clinical and administrative tasks. This position requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of Epic and insurance systems, and a commitment to high-quality customer service.

What you'll do


  • Greet patients and visitors promptly and courteously, direct them to appropriate areas, and manage the check-in and check-out process.



  • Accurately schedule appointments, follow up visits, while managing no-shows, late arrivals, and discharges.



  • Operate the hospital phone and paging systems, screen and direct calls, and relay messages professionally while maintaining strong communication with physician offices.



  • Register and pre-register patients with a high level of accuracy, ensuring correct use of identifiers, demographic information, and guarantor details.



  • Verify insurance eligibility, complete the Medicare second payer questionnaire (MSPQ) forms when needed, and obtain referrals or authorizations as required.



  • Collect co-pays, co-insurance, and past-due payments, maintain and update financial fields in Epic, balance the cash drawer, and assist patients with billing services and Charity Care.



  • Assist patients with physician-ordered referrals, ensure accurate documentation in Epic, and follow up on any incomplete services.



  • Retrieve and update medical records from Epic or other sources, manage paper charts, and handle release of information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.


Required qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, or 5 years of experience in a health care setting.
