As an Operations Specialist in our Labor & Delivery unit at Salem Health, you'll be a vital behind-the-scenes partner supporting one of the most meaningful moments in our patients' lives - childbirth. In this fast-paced, emotionally rewarding environment, you'll manage critical administrative and operational tasks that keep our unit running efficiently, safely, and compassionately.

From scheduling procedures and maintaining medical records to ensuring supply readiness and supporting quality compliance, your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will directly impact the experience of patients, families, and care teams. You'll serve as a central communication hub, coordinating with nurses, physicians, and external partners, and ensuring that every shift flows smoothly.

If you're organized, solution-focused, and thrive in a collaborative, purpose-driven setting, this role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient care - even if you're not at the bedside. Join a team where your work matters, your voice is valued, and your contributions help welcome new life into the world every day.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the first point of contact: Greet patients, visitors, and staff with professionalism and care. Handle incoming calls, relay messages accurately, and support appointment scheduling.
  • Manage administrative processes: Initiate and maintain patient medical records in alignment with hospital policy and unit standards. Accurately scan and access information within the Epic system while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Coordinate department logistics: Maintain supply inventories, process equipment orders and repairs, and manage documentation to support an organized and well-resourced unit.
  • Support clinical coordination: Schedule procedures such as inductions, cesarean sections, and sterilizations in accordance with department protocols. Fax medical information to appropriate external agencies and facilities.
  • Contribute to quality and compliance: Assist with audits, data collection, and quality assurance efforts. Perform compliance checks on code carts and other emergency equipment.
  • Drive process improvements: Analyze current workflows, identify opportunities for efficiency, and help implement changes that enhance overall operations.
  • Maintain safety and security: Oversee infant security system processes and respond to call lights and staff requests promptly to ensure patient safety and unit responsiveness.
  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with nursing leaders and staff to support special projects and department goals, helping to ensure Labor and Delivery services run smoothly and efficiently.
