The construction of fairlife's manufacturing facility in Webster, NY is underway. This state-of-the-art, 750k sq ft, greenfield plant is expected to be operational in late 2025 and will lay the foundation for fairlife's next phase of growth as the leading dairy nutrition provider. While coupling the industry's latest technologies and fairlife's operational excellence to build this world-class facility, fairlife plans to hire 250 new employees and bring in approximately 5 million lbs. of milk a day, with room to grow over the coming years.

job purpose: The maintenance staff is tasked with the upkeep of buildings and grounds, as well as upkeep of machinery and processing equipment needed to operate and maintain the facility. The Plant Automated Equipment Technician (AET) will report to the Maintenance Manager and will be maintaining all plant automated assets, systems, and areas. AETs will be members of the shift Maintenance teams and responsible for completing both planned and unplanned work in accordance with included instructions as well as any applicable rules and regulations.

Responsibilities:



  • Set up, maintain and troubleshoot automated processing, packaging, and warehousing systems and assets


  • Conduct tests to evaluate performance of automated systems and assets


  • Maintain records of automated systems and assets


  • Perform preventative maintenance on automated systems


  • Assist with the development of training materials for other technicians


  • Work as part of a team to plan, analyze and control the quality of processes.


  • Install or replace control devices, HMIs, VFDs, Servo Drives. This may include programming the device or downloading Parameters to the device.


  • Work with ICTs and Engineering personnel to continually improve process control systems through Advanced Process Control, Alarm Management, and Operator Interface Optimization.


  • Plant liaison for new system start up and commissioning by all outside contractors, OEMs, and vendors to ensure proper transfer of documented equipment changes and adequate training on the installation/changes that have been completed.


  • Responsible for the training of end users on the operations of newly installed or modified automated equipment


  • Provide technical training to other personnel.


  • The AET will work in all areas of the facility including the Packaging Department, the Processing Department, the ASRS warehouse, and the Facilities/Utilities Department.


  • Other duties may be assigned



Skills/Qualifications required:



  • Minimum of three (3) years maintenance experience in automated equipment system and assets development and troubleshooting.


  • Minimum of 5 years working in a manufacturing maintenance or engineering team


  • Knowledge of programming languages and software applications related to automation


  • Knowledge of safety procedures and industry regulations


  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills


  • Strong communication and organizational skills


Skills/Qualifications preferred:



  • Associate degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering or Technology or related military service training programs. Additional professional training.


  • Additional experience with machinery repair and control systems, including mechanical, electrical, piping, rebuilds/overhauls, instruments, or controls


  • Additional training as an industrial electrician.


  • Dairy and/or high-speed beverage maintenance experience


  • Experience programming in visual basic or similar languages


  • PLC, HMI, and/or Robotics experience


Working conditions and Physical requirements:



  • Regular use of a variety of machines and hand-tools is essential. Standing for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal range is important for conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents, manuals and drawings


  • Good math and reasoning ability is essential. Able to understand and utilize engineering drawings, operating manuals, and blueprints to conduct business


  • Sitting/Standing/Walking:Stands, walks and sits during completion of job responsibilities.


  • Lifting/Carrying:Occasional lifting requirements as job demands. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. on an occasional basis.


  • Pushing/Pulling:Occasional pushing or pulling requirements


  • Bending/Stooping:Occasional bending and stooping requirements


  • Squatting/Kneeling/Crawling:Occasional kneeling or crawling requirements


  • Twisting/Turning:Ongoing twisting or turning requirements.


  • Climbing/BalancingClimbing and balancing is required during plant inspections, and other related job requirements.


  • Reaching:Ongoing reaching requirements associated with job requirements.


  • Grasping/Manipulating:Grasping and manipulating of papers, objects, and equipment will be required. Ability to keyboard for data input will be required on an ongoing basis.



Food Safety requirements:



  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.


  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.


  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.


  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.


  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.


  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.


  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.

base salary range: $39/hr
