SUMMARY
The position is responsible to effectively plan, schedule, and coordinate production and raw materials to meet customer demand while maintaining material inventories and expediting the material flow from suppliers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Plans, prepares, issues, and controls production schedules and material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of materials timed to meet production requirements and to ensure on-time deliveries to customers.
  2. Communicate with customers on a daily basis regarding order and shipping requirements, evaluate and analyze order volume, order backlog status and inventory levels to level load production equipment and achieve optimal run cycles/volumes .
  3. Runs MRP daily and accurately assigns ship dates to orders based on material/machine/hours availability.
  4. Reviews EOQ's and safety stock to drive effective inventory & productivity levels.
  5. Reviews open order report daily and adjusts sales order quantities as required.
  6. Communicates effectively with customer service on any delays affecting on-time delivery.
  7. Reviews and tracks all jobs to ensure they are on time and the plant is level loaded.
  8. Adjusts work order start dates and/or quantities to utilize resources effectively and efficiently.
  9. Works closely with operations management to ensure adherence to plan and coordinate changes as needed.
  10. Works directly with employees to resolve any scheduling issues.
  11. Review raw material inventory to ensure sufficient levels are available to produce order requirements.
  12. Order materials from suppliers. Determine type and quantity of materials and components required to maintain Production schedules. Work closely with suppliers to ensure that the company's supply needs are adequately met in a timely manner.
  13. Sets up trucking to deliver raw materials as required and communicates scheduled delivery times to the Receiving Department.
  14. Inform and advise the corporate buyer on material status and any problems with production due to materials.
  15. Input material releases into computer system.
  16. Work with program managers on the start-up of new jobs.
  17. Maintain ISO/IATF requirements
  18. Participate in safety program
  19. Work within customer online portal
  20. Back-up for Sr Production Planner and Materials Manager
  21. Other duties as assigned



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's Degree in Production Management or 8 years equivalent materials experience,
  • Or High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required along with minimum 8 years progressive movement in a process manufacturing environment.



Skills and/or Abilities:


  • Experience in working with MRP, BAAN and other inventory systems. Competent in working with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Thorough understanding of throughput production methods
  • Strong analytical skill set
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of blanking and laser welding operations.

  • APICS Certification preferred
