Responsible for assisting optometrists and ophthalmologists in providing quality eye care services to patients by performing a range of administrative, clinical, and technical duties to ensure efficient operations and excellent patient experiences within the eye care department.

Essential Functions
-Perform specialized tests under the direction of the optometrist such as corneal topography.
-Assist patients with contact lens insertion, removal, and care instructions.
-Educate patients on proper contact lens hygiene.
-Ensure the cleanliness and proper functioning of diagnostic and examination equipment.
-Provide patients with information about eye conditions, treatment plans, and preventive measures as directed by the optometrist.
-Assist with handing of instruments and offering patient comfort.
-Collaborate with providers to submit prior authorization requests to insurance for patient appointments
-Update and maintain contact lens price list and online website
-Shipping and receiving of contact lenses as they arrive in office

Experience

  • Optometry/Ophthalmology Experience 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in performing various eye-related tests and using diagnostic equipment.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
  • Strong customer service skills to provide a welcoming and compassionate environment for patients.
  • Keen attention to detail when recording patient information, performing tests, and assisting with procedures.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-based healthcare setting.
