Responsible for assisting optometrists and ophthalmologists in providing quality eye care services to patients by performing a range of administrative, clinical, and technical duties to ensure efficient operations and excellent patient experiences within the eye care department. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Perform specialized tests under the direction of the optometrist such as corneal topography. -Assist patients with contact lens insertion, removal, and care instructions. -Educate patients on proper contact lens hygiene. -Ensure the cleanliness and proper functioning of diagnostic and examination equipment. -Provide patients with information about eye conditions, treatment plans, and preventive measures as directed by the optometrist. -Assist with handing of instruments and offering patient comfort. -Collaborate with providers to submit prior authorization requests to insurance for patient appointments -Update and maintain contact lens price list and online website -Shipping and receiving of contact lenses as they arrive in office Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials N/A Experience Optometry/Ophthalmology Experience 1-2 years preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficiency in performing various eye-related tests and using diagnostic equipment. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues. Strong customer service skills to provide a welcoming and compassionate environment for patients. Keen attention to detail when recording patient information, performing tests, and assisting with procedures. Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-based healthcare setting.
