General Summary of Position Performs routine and specialized painting and related tasks to maintain the condition and appearance of hospital buildings and facilities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.Achieves special effects such as wood grain, marble, tile, or brick utilizing cloth, brush, sponge, fingers, or other accessories or tools.Completes special projects such as signage and poster boards within scheduled time.Fills nail holes, joints, and cracks in walls with plaster or other filler.Keeps work areas orderly, clean, and safe. Ensures proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.Maintains required records and information needed for costing work assignments.Paints trim and creates a straight dividing line between colors.Paints, varnishes, stains, enamels, lacquers, and redecorates walls, woodwork, and fixtures of buildings and facilities using appropriate tools and techniques.Prepares surfaces and applies wall covering, base, and protective finishes.Removes old finishes and otherwise prepares surfaces for painting, staining, varnishing, and lacquering.Selects premixed paint or mixes paints to achieve desired color. Applies coats of paint to exterior and interior surfaces.Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required, and service improvement teams.Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education
- High School Diploma or GED required or
- equivalent. required or
- Equivalent work experience in lieu of education may be considered.
Experience
- 3-4 years Painter experience required
- One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
