Job Family Description

Site Security personnel safeguard individuals, property, information, and assets against potential threats and unwanted access. They monitor security systems and respond promptly to security incidents. They assess security and emergency risks and implement training and preventative measures. They ensure compliance with security procedures and requirements.

Discipline Description

Personnel Security specialists provide badging support of the overall operational objectives for the Savannah River Site. They provide expertise and perform all necessary services for the processing of badging and HSPD-12 credentialing. They perform services to review personnel security-related documents for completeness and process. These may include requests for clearance extensions, transfers, reinstatements, reciprocity, suspension, terminations, spouse/cohabitant data documents, incidents reports, requests for personnel security files or information therein, and any other requests related to a personnel security action. They create and update database records of badging and personnel security actions using the personnel security databases, and facilitate the applicant completion of the Questionnaire for National Security Positions through the National Background Investigation Services or successor system.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Clearance Processor is a member of the Personnel Security Department and works to ensure accuracy and completion of information required for PIV or UPIV credentials (SF 85 or SF 86) required for long term logical or physical access to Savannah River Site . Individual is responsible for enhancing the customer service experience for each individual assigned to Savannah River Site requiring support from Personnel Security. In this role, the clearance processor will initiate and process documents required for background investigations including requests for reciprocity or extensions from other government agencies. High level of communication with applicants and managers to ensure compliance and adherence to all DOE directives and procedures. High volume of administrative processing to include receiving and transmitting cases to our designated Cognizant Personnel Security Office. Managing and maintaining accurate record keeping and proper storage of personal identifiable information. Safeguard sensitive information with superior discretion and adhere to all security procedures and policies as required.

Required Qualifications

* Associate's degree in relevant field plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training, OR High school diploma plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training plus at least one year of experience (YOE) in an applicable role
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered
* Positions must adhere to 10 CFR 710

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
