Applications to be submitted by June 26, 2025 Compensation Grade: P24 Compensation Details: Minimum: $90,600.00 - Maximum: $90,600.00 Annually Department (OPH) Office of Public Health Job Description: Responsibilities The Public Health Program Nurse (PHPN) will work to improve the health of Capital District communities in need by providing training, technical assistance, resources, and clinical guidance on community health services to local health departments, community-based organizations, and other community partners, focusing on lead poisoning prevention and follow-up, maternal, child and reproductive health services, chronic disease and cancer prevention and control programs. The PHPH will support health education and health promotion activities, such as, implementation of the New York State Prevention Agenda. The PHPN will monitor public health data, contribute to the identification of public health issues, work on strategies to promote healthy communities, and evaluate activities implemented. The PHPN will facilitate enhanced collaboration and coordination among maternal, child health and chronic disease programs, providers, and other key stakeholders to improve health outcomes for infants, children, adolescents, and adults. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing AND a license and current registration as a professional registered nurse in NYS AND four years of experience planning, evaluating, or administering health services or teaching in a health related program; OR an Associate's degree in Nursing AND a license and current registration as a professional registered nurse in NYS AND six years of experience planning, evaluating, or administering health services or teaching in a health related program. A Master's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of experience planning, evaluating, or administering health services or teaching in a health related program. A valid driver's license in good standing. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with family health and/or chronic disease activities including maternal, child, and reproductive public health services; and prevention and control activities related to cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and/or asthma. Experience in oversight and evaluation of public health and preventive health programs, as well as promoting public health messages and/or contributing to policy development. At least one year of experience with program or project management. Experience supervising staff. Experience developing educational materials and coordinating and delivering training. Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency with computer-based software packages such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc. Work experience connecting New York residents with health services, mental health, and social services. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Travel, 25-50% of the time, will be required. A valid driver's license in good standing will be required for areas not served by public transportation. The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available. This position may require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays. HRI participates in the E-Verify Program.
