Logistics Inventory Technician

Scope of Performance: This position is that of a Logistics Inventory Technician assigned to, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head MD. This position will be a full-time position and shall be subject to physical examinations and certification requirements. Technicians MUST be able to support varying shifts at the request of management and/or COR.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of duties that include, but not limited to, creating hazardous materials shipping documents, securing means of travel for hazardous materials, correspond with shipping companies to coordinate pickup/delivery, and other responsibilities as assigned
  • Responsible for creating proper documentation for all shipments leaving the installation
  • Understanding and utilizing ALL proper regulations that govern the safe transport of government owned hazardous materials on public roadways
  • Track shipments and update internal customers as needed
  • Knowledgeable on multiple methods of shipping, i.e., Commercial trucking, Government owned transport, NGDS, FMS, etc.
  • Knowledge of Navy ERP and forms produced within that system
  • Thorough understanding of shipping documents and use cases, i.e., SDDG, DD-1149, DD-1348, CBL, GBL, etc..
  • Assists fellow departments to streamline flow of information of shipments
  • Follow written procedures, guidelines, and standard operating procedures

Education and Experience - Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • U.S. Citizen and valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Ability to pass Ammo-18 Certification class
  • Ability to work with automated computer systems
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, both military and private industry
