Construction Specialist Staff is accountable for the successful execution of project construction to execute the efficient production of oil and gas with support from Project Manager/Facility Engineer and under general direction of Construction Lead. Manage the facilities construction contractors related to the capital spending Projects for Upstream and Midstream facilities. Mentor Construction specialists imbedded in Surface lead teams.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the construction management of projects by overseeing the management of construction contractors, vendors and support services
  • Provide field inspection of construction activities related to coating and welding
  • Provide input to the development of Facilities standards and construction practices
  • Understand the facilities materials and design that best support the Asset Teams
  • Support the consistent implementation of functional standards within the Asset Teams
  • Support maintenance of major project schedule, implementation, compliance to design and commissioning
  • Project cost tracking and reporting as needed by Project Team
  • Provide HES leadership to contractors, vendors and teammates
  • Participate in Construction ability reviews at each phase of the project
  • Identify and support mitigation of Field obstacles that may impact project execution

Education:

  • High school or equivalent education is required

Professional/Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledgeable in Construction Industry Standards and best practices
  • Familiar with Project Management Principles

Professional / Technical Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Understanding of industry welding requirements and procedures as well as non-destruction evaluation (NDE) methodologies
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software including MS Project, MS Word and MS Excel.

Experience:

  • Candidates should have at least 5-10 years of construction experience
  • Familiar with Upstream oil and gas facilities operation and maintenance 5 years
  • Familiar with Midstream gas plant operation and maintenance

Skills & Competencies:

  • Medium to high knowledge of Pipeline: Materials, Pressure drop calculations, Design, Installation, Estimation
  • Medium to high knowledge of Rotating Equipment (Pumps, Compressors, VRUs): Materials, Design, Installation, Estimation
  • Medium to high knowledge of Surface Equipment (Vessels, Tanks, Headers): Materials, Design, Installation, Estimation
  • Understanding of automation and electrical design principles
  • Fundamental understanding of MOCs, HAZOPs and PSSRs
  • Extensive expertise in safe work systems.
  • Expertise of construction specifications, codes and practices.
  • Awareness training for Welding inspection and NDE
  • Ability to understand welding procedures, and qualifications.
  • Ability to develop/review Lifting plans for critical lifts
  • Familiar with material handling/staging principles
  • Evaluate manpower loading plans
  • Manage construction contractors
  • Demonstrated construction management skills including material & labor planning, cost & schedule estimating, contracting, cost & progress tracking and management, documentation, post appraisal and process improvement
  • Demonstrated high level of effectiveness working in a collaborative teamwork environment
  • Demonstrated effective communication in written and verbal forms; adept at selection and use of appropriate communication techniques (e-mail, fax, phone, cell phone, Internet, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of oil & gas production operations, associated pipeline systems and surface equipment, and demonstrated ability to integrate construction activities with ongoing operating activities
