Overview
Nakupuna Solutions is seeking a Fiber Technician. The Fiber Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of fiber optic and Ethernet networks. They ensure reliable connectivity and optimal network performance for customers and organizations by resolving issues and maintaining fiber optic systems.
Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair fiber optic cables and Ethernet networks
- Perform fiber splicing and termination
- Conduct network testing and troubleshooting
- Examine and replace faulty and old fiber optic cables and organize scheduled maintenance routines.
- Read and interpret network diagrams and blueprints
- Capable of terminating LC, SC, and ST fiber connectors as well as Epoxy connectors, Quick connectors, and Ethernet shielded cables and connectors.
- Install and configure network equipment
- Keep track of the signal strength of different devices, such as television and telephone, to provide adequate performance.
- Respond to service outages and customer complaints
- Document all installations, repairs, and maintenance activities
- Conduct site surveys and feasibility assessments
- Maintain inventory of tools and equipment
- Follow safety protocols and procedures
- Provide technical support to customers
- Coordinate with other technicians and network operations teams
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in fiber optic and Ethernet installation/maintenance
- Relevant certifications such as:
- Fiber Optic Technician (FOT)
- Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT)
- Electronics Technicians Association (ETA) certification
- CompTIA Network+
- Cisco CCNA
Skills/Qualifications: Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in fiber optic splicing techniques
- Knowledge of Ethernet protocols and standards
- Experience with testing equipment (OTDR, power meters, etc.)
- Understanding of network architecture and topology
- Familiarity with cabling standards and specifications
- Knowledge of telecommunications principles
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Understanding of safety procedures and protocols

Clearance Requirements: Active TS/SCI security clearance required. Must be a U.S. citizen. Location: Aberdeen, MD Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum, be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Capable of working in various weather conditions

- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $70,000.00 to $76,000.00 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
