Our signature technologies - dry-powder formulations and inhalation devices - offer rapid and convenient delivery of medicines to the deep lung where they can exert an effect locally or enter the systemic circulation, depending on the target indication.

Position Summary:

MannKind Corporation is currently seeking a Director, Sales Training. This position is an instrumental lead for MannKind sales and sales leadership training curriculum and delivery that is innovative, results-oriented, and best-in-class. This role provides strategic direction, curriculum development, vendor management, and facilitation of programs and presentation of materials. This role works closely and collaboratively with various internal cross-functional teams, sales leadership, marketing, market access, etc. to proactively identify training needs for the Sales team through needs assessments, implementation of a continuum of programs from initial to advanced skill levels based on MannKind Values and Behaviors; completion of ongoing assessments and continuously improving upon training materials and processes. This role is based in Westlake Village, CA.

Principal Responsibilities:


  • Establishes and executes a short-term and long-term strategic vision for Training that addresses identified gaps and defines new training solutions that enhance performance across sales, account management, managers, and medical.
  • Engages with sales and marketing leaders to identify, prioritize, and execute skill development for their respective teams.
  • Develops and executes advanced learning and development programs to foster the advancement of emerging talent and contribute to the retention of high-performing team members.
  • Identifies and manages strategic external partners to support training efforts to assist in meeting/exceeding sales objectives.
  • Implements assessments and monitors KPIs across training programs and achievement of sales goals to determine success of training curriculum.
  • Participate in launch execution planning for pipeline products.
  • Continuously assesses/evaluates, updates, designs, and facilitates learning experiences and content to enhance the selling skills, product positioning and knowledge of the field sales team.
  • Collaborates with all departments that support sales activity, including human resources and all cross-functional teams to evolve the training curriculum.
  • Participates as an active leader and member of the EBU team.
  • Maintains budgets for all training workshop related activities and all other administrative, tactical and strategic planning activities as needed.
  • Supports coordination, planning, and execution of National Sales Meeting in conjunction with Sales Leadership
  • Ensure all programs are designed, developed, and executed against brand strategies.
  • Manages the communication, coordination, and execution of all training activities, face-to-face or virtually, individually or in a group setting which could also include in person district or regional meetings.
  • Responsible for observing all Company, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and remains compliant and adheres to all MannKind policies and procedures.
  • Duties and responsibilities are not limited to the work listed above and may include other assignments as necessary.
  • Up to 50% Travel required.


Education and Experience Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 15 years of relevant experience required or 12 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 8 years' experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Training experience required in pharmaceutical or biotech organization.
  • Prior experience within a Sales and/or Marketing Function of a Pharmaceutical or Biotech Organization preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with training platforms and software.
  • Advanced leadership, management planning, organizing, and execution skills.
  • Advanced interpersonal, collaboration, communication (oral and written), facilitation, and administrative management skills.
  • Innovative, creative and detail-oriented.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry.
  • Leadership, Teamwork, and Team Building are essential.
  • Able to work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and ideas with peers and with management.
  • Ability to organize and lead meetings with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships throughout the organization.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Must be able and willing to work diligently in a high-visibility, fast-paced environment with changing timelines and priorities and exhibit a passion for patients.
  • Excellent presentation skills a must.




Pay Range: $176,000 - $264,000 per year
